On October 11, 2024, during Duck Meeting 2024 held in Gdynia, the Amber Duck Award was presented – this year the award was given to both Polish Shipowners Association (ZAP) and the Polish Shipping Companies Association (PZPŻ)
This award is recognition for both Associations for establishing the joint representation of the Polish Shipping Association (PSA), which became a member of ECSA (European Community Shipowners’ Association) on January 1, 2024 and restored (after a break of several years) the voice of Polish shipping sector back on the European forum.
Representing ZAP and PZPŻ, both Marcin Talwik and Dariusz Jellonnek emphasized the particular importance of overcoming internal particularisms in order to create a platform capable of defending the interests of Polish shipowners and shipping companies in an increasingly complicated international situation. The creation of PSA is also proof that there are no insurmountable particularisms at national level when it comes to achieving a common goal.
Concluding their speech, both representatives also expressed hope that both the Polish administration and Polish MEPs will join forces with PSA to become the ambassadors of maritime affairs in the European Union.
