On April 14, at the Hotton Hotel in Gdynia, a pre-Easter Information Meeting was held. The main topics of the meeting were:
- The activities of the Association with regards to the war in Ukraine (including the issues of crew change and providing employment);
- Overview of the legal situation regarding the tax exemption for seafarers (Article 21 (1) (23c) of the PIT Act 1991) after the amendment, which entered into force on January 1, 2021.
- Discussion of the current legislative work, including the issue of social security.
The meeting culminated in the launching ceremony of the book “Maritime Code Commentary”, which was created with the substantive and financial support of the Association. The introductory speech was delivered by Professor Dorota Pyć.
Then, the sponsor, Dr Katarzyna Skrzeszewska christened the book with the following words:
“Through land and sea, arrive where they expect you. Bring fame to the names of Polish lawyers – experts in the field of maritime law, authors and interpreters. Bring fame to Polish universities educating specialists in the field of maritime law and maritime staff.
Show the fruits of many years of Polish maritime law doctrine, recorded on paper by a team of maritime lawyers: prof. UG dr hab. Dorota Pyć, dr Cezary Łuczywek, dr Iwona Zużewicz-Wiewiórowska, dr Magdalena Adamowicz, dr Krzysztof Kochanowski, dr Małgorzata Nesterowicz.”
